Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations -(FAO-UN)

Name of Student : Dalal M.Al-Nukhailan

Experience, Management, Productive skills and knowledge are the main words I can use to describe my internship in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.I was chosen by LoYAC for a volunteer work at the FAO-Nutrition division for duration of 1 month. Throughout the month, I had accomplished a number of tasks:

1-Assisting in a Nutrition Guide Book for Teachers.
2-Meeting with the WORLD FOOD DAY Chairman
3-Holding a seminar, entitled with “Nutrition in Kuwait and Nutri Viva”
4-Writing a press release on the annually food journal of the Nutrition Research.

I spoke more about Kuwait University and the new established major of Nutrition, leading me to start with the establishment of Nutri Viva Club and mention LoYAC and their mission and aims and to show them that I was there that day because of the great efforts made by LoYAC team. I was so pleased of myself and at this moment I was thinking of this quote “YOU ARE WHO YOU WANT TO BE”

British Parliament - 2008

Name of Student : Bedour Al Khalifa
My internship at the UK Parliament was very helpful as it helped me learn a lot. First of all, it was a learning experience in that I learned how the parliament functioned. During my internship, I was able to attend hearings where important issues concerning the British public were discussed. For instance, important issues like immigration helped me realize how tolerant and fair the British government is.
The most influential thing I learned during my internship was the close bond between Kuwait and Britain. For instance, I was asked to research “Kuwaiti Women Groups” so that they work hand in hand with “British Anti-terrorism Groups” to help prevent terrorism and promote prosperity among the Muslim youth.
In conclusion, my internship at the UK Parliament was a learning experience in many ways because it opened my eyes to important issues concerning the world and how Britain is solving them. For instance, regardless of all the terrorist threats that Britain faces every now and then, it continues to stand out as the land of freedom excluding racism and extremism, which is how this internship helped me become more open-minded and worldly.

Landor Associates -Dubai -2008

Name of Student : Bader Al Ajeel

Landor is one of the largest branding agencies of the world. Their network is comprised of 850 people in 26 offices in 19 countries. They have helped to create, build and revitalize more brands than any other company in the world.
As soon as I arrived, they took me through the Landor Initiation Program, and gave me an introduction to what Landor is all about. Landor Dubai's office is one of the most fun to join in the network for two main reasons - the multitude of nationalities working hand in hand, as well as the diversity of projects. My first project was Dubai Airport Freezone. I was asked to finalize the logo they did, it was fun to do so. The second project was for a telecommunication company in Asia, and the third was for a massive resort in Sharm AlShiekh, Egypt. I went through several naming sessions, as well as several Landor's tools that are deisgned specially for them to get the job done perfectly.I was involved in different Corporate Identity and Brand Identity projects, which will hopefully teach me a lot and help me grow in my professional and personal life. And I would like to thank LoYAC for giving me the chance to attend such experience.

SEI London - 2008

Name of Student : Bader Alshawa

LoYAC
was grateful enough to provide me with the opportunity for some international experience as I interned with SEI Investments, a U.S. based wealth management firm, in their London office. For five weeks, I worked alongside the Asset Management Solutions team on the private banking side, which allowed me to become more involved with the day to day changes and interactions in the global market. On a daily basis, I was in charge of providing my team with market updates including news surrounding the commodities market, exchange rates, and the stock market. For our major project, I worked alongside the other intern Mohammad Alfarouqi, as we prepared an analysis and report about the Independent Financial Advisors in the UK and the different investment opportunities that are open to them.
Overall, the opportunity to work and live in a cosmopolitan city like London, and work in the heart of the Mayfair area was a very rare opportunity that I know I am already reaping the benefits from. I would like to thank LoYAC for their efforts in making this internship happen and I would highly recommend taking part in such an experience.

Name of Student : Mohammed Al Farouqi
LoYAC provided me with the opportunity to work with SEI Investment Manager in London, UK. SEI is a well established investment manager firm that provides a wide array of investment outsourcing solutions to businesses in the U.S and UK markets. I was privileged to work in the Private Banking department where I was involved in a number of different projects. As part of my responsibilities I conducted capital markets analysis and reporting. In addition I participated in a large research initiative directed towards web investment platforms in the UK and SEI's strategic plan in the area. In addition to having research responsibilities, I was lucky enough to work on a software development initiative that would support SEI's Client Relationship Management system.
The internship was a truly a holistic learning experience that has provided me with a new range of competencies and qualifications.

IFAD (UN International Fund for Agricultural Development ) - 2008

Name of Student : Bashayer Al-Bader
During my internship at IFAD (International Fund for Agriculture and Development), I was trained in the communication department with Mr.Taysir Al-Ghanem. During which I had the chance to conduct a research around my field of study/interest: Nutrition Education & women in the poor rural areas, and achieving equality between both genders. Also, I attended seminars and read articles about soaring food prices in the 3rd world and how IFAD is working to eradicate poverty and make those poor rural areas food secure. At the end of my internship, participated by writing an article that’s going to be published in IFAD’s monthly newsletter mainly handling the current situation of soaring food prices in the poor countries, and the best possible solutions as well as the importance for nutrition status of the population.
At the end of the internship, and after getting used to the Italian cappuccino and the Sicilian canoli, and the 9-5 job, and the Italian language, I never knew I’ll miss all of this so much! Thank you so much LoYAC for an amazing opportunity!
