Name : Ahmad Alnaibari

Jobsite: Al Manshar Rotana Hotel

First of all, I was not considering hotel sector in my mind, but it was the only place which is interesting to me. I enrolled here to see how the hotel operates from the inside. I'm writing this sheet at the end of my second week in Al Manshar Rotana. I rotate in the Front Office department which consists of Concierge, Telephone operator, Guest relation and Reception. My first days were at the concierge section. This section deals with handling luggage upon Check in and check out and transportation mainly. I got to know the arrangements of transporting the guests by either the cars of the hotel or by a third party company (Taxi). Also, the concierge deals with packages and letters that are sent to guests. Concierge is a important part of any successful hotel. Then, I resumed my rotation to go to the telephone operator section where I learned the standards of speaking on the telephone in a hotel. Not “Hello" and that's all, we should greet the caller with the greeting of the day whether it is "Good morning, Good afternoon etc" then my name and the department that I'm in, lastly; "May I help you." Moreover, I experienced how important is the 'Wake-up' call for the telephone operator. The operator has a responsibility of waking up the gust in the given time or she/he might lose an amount of her/his salary because if she did not wake up him he will not catch his flight therefore delaying him which costs money. These two areas are the main gates of the hotel. In concierge, they are the first to be seen. In the switchboard or telephone operator, they are the first to be heard through the telephone. I mentioned some aspects of these two areas to give a brief idea of what did I experience until today. Frankly, I did not think the hotel environment is that harsh to the employees? The employees are pushing themselves to the limits to keep their smiles and happy attitude to the guests.

In the first two weeks in the Majhem Company we didn't do a lot of work because out advisor was outside of the Kuwait. Afterwards, the Majhem Company placed me to work in the branched of BreadTalk, in Baghdad Street learned - - I learned how to met different people. - How to treat the customers when they enter the shop. - How to decorate food - Cook some food - Bake cakes, - Also learned how to clean - Which boxes to use for cakes or toast? - I even learned how BreadTalk use a little amount of money for waste products. This is good factor. - learned about the workers who work in BreadTalk. - The prices of the products. - Shift hours. - How the Majhem Co. tries to motive their workers - How many deliveries per day... I honestly leaned allot from BreadTalk, But mostly how to treat people and meet allot of different people of different backgrounds and cultures.
